Resi Stiegler Interview

Posted by admin On January - 27 - 20107 COMMENTS

Debbie Wood “Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.” – Confucius

A dear friend of mine put up this post on Facebook. I read it, and then called up Resi Stiegler to chat with her about recovery and rehab on her knee. She is a shredder on the US Ski Team with sights on the Olympics in Vancouver.

She crashed in November and is In Maui, recovering and bouncing back.

If we all had attitudes like hers, we would all be shredders, too.

Champions inspire when they get up after being knocked down.

Resi’s blog rocks. Check it out here.

Jess McMillan Shredder Interview

Posted by admin On January - 24 - 20102 COMMENTS

Freeskiing Champion, Jess McMillan is “Crusheling.” She hucks more than most people. Just recently, she won the Freeskiing Championships at Revelstoke B.C.

Hear what pearls of wisdom she drops about fitness and inspiration as she packs her bags for Chamonix and Austria.

By the way, there is a horrible echo on my end but you didn’t come to hear me anyway- Listen to Jess.

AND- The interview had to be cut off to keep it PG-rated. You will have to tune in for round two where she shares her memories of Shane McConkey and what she will be up to at Squaw Valley the last week of February-first week of March.

For those of you who will watch the Olympics for the figure skating, This is a huck. This is Jess giving a flying huck in Verbier, Switzerland in fact.

Put a helmet on, hold on and check out her blog, JessMcMillan.com

…and follow her on twitter @JessMcMillan

And even if you don’t give a flying huck, please tweet this post.

Get Stoked!

There is so much going on right now that is positive. You don’t believe me? Well for one, if you are reading this, you don’t live in Haiti. That’s good. You can help people there by contributing to relief efforts too and that is hugely positive.
Without getting bogged down in day-to-day scheduled crap, you can pull your head out and see that there is plenty to be stoked about.

Dude, Get stoked

Take The Pow Less-Shredded

Posted by admin On January - 17 - 20107 COMMENTS

The road less-traveled is getting traffic these days. To keep pushing the envelope and getting out to the best powder stashes, we went of Highway 50 East of the famous, Lovers Leap. Just after the huge highway-switchback, you pass Camp Sacramento. Park on the right, before you get to Sierra-At Tahoe Ski Resort.

We skinned up to the best tree skiing in Nor Cal. You can’t get this at a resort- Even Homewood. On the neighboring peak, the wide run of Sierra Ski Ranch (sorry, I’ll never stop callin it that) looms, with the black ant-sized-people cascading down. We headed up to a new secret.

Life is like that. The best things in life are worth working for- fighting for.

Every time I go back-country skiing, I see at least one guy with a huge beard. Today I saw two. When there are three-guys and two have beards and one does not, its a “ZZ-Top day.”

We thought we were reaching the peak and were about relax. Upon reaching a plateau, we saw the real peak and there was a stand of old-growth-pines spaced out and majestic with acres of un-tracked love in the North-facing slope’s shade.

The average skier was to our left, at the resort, on the groomer.
If you are willing to fight for it, you can have the best in life. You can’t be average and on the groomers and expect greatness.

So, what are you fighting for right now? Have you written it down? Are you going after it?
Write what you are you fighting for in the comment section after you watch the flick.

Get Back Country

Earning Your Turns is Important

Earning Your Turns is Important

Highway 50 drops into South Lake Tahoe and opens up to some of the best scenery in the USA. Down, off to the right, on your way in the basin is Highway 88, going off to Kirkwood and some good tree skiing.

Waterhouse Peak is accessible on Highway 88. Park on the shoulder and put your skins on. I just did this with Todd Gillihan, local (loco) split-boarder and we realized some things. You don’t have to go here to have huge breakthroughs. Just hike up a hill with a good friend and share your thoughts.

Here they are:
There are few things in this world as important as friendships. Take care of them. They are all you’ve got.

We are going to change the world through adventures and bringing people together by giving and sharing our passions.

Stand by your spouse, no matter what.

Stay together. Get lost with friends but never alone.

A gut-busting cardio-high-altitude-blast gives you a better high than anything you can buy on the street.

Split-Boards are snowboards cut in half and are worth it if you like backcountry and are a knuckledragger.
