Bundesliga Showcase with FC Sporting is on June 4th and 5th, 2011. It is the first-annual installment of what will amount to be a change in the international soccer community.
Sound dramatic? Good, it is dramatic. How have kids gotten funneled into the pros from the US in the past? They have got good grades and played and practiced well to get to college.
They have a scholarship so they are tied to their school and have to comply with NCAA rules. When they graduate, they are too old to get in to the ranks. What if 17-year-olds, at the top of their game, now had the chance to explore getting paid big money to play in Europe, in the Bundesliga before college. They can, now.
Northern California’s best, under-17 players will converge in a showcase tournament and just by participating, they will have their foot in the door that has been pretty-much shut until now.
Their profile, or soccer resume, will be assembled and put in a pipeline to the Bundesliga Fussball Player Agents’ Association to be considered for a try-out on one of their farm teams.
AND to make matters more-awesome, iSoccer Star’s One Shot One Dream has agreed to allow these top-tier players into the second round of their selection process for this year’s squad.
For those of you who don’t know about One Shot One Dream, follow them on Facebook. After three levels of tryouts all over the U.S. they are forming a team to go to Germany and play friendly matches in front of Bundesliga agents and managers, looking to fill rosters.
July 10th, they leave to go and some of these kids from Nor Cal could be on the plane. Simple.
